Through Us Serving

The Heartbeat of Jesus Through Us: Serving

Like a boomerang, the blessings we give to others have a way of returning to us.  Dr. David Livingstone who, medical degree in hand, left the comforts of home to spend thirty years in primitive Africa, would later reflect.

I have never ceased to rejoice that God has appointed me to such an office.  People talk of the sacrifice I have made . . .  Can that be called a sacrifice which is simply paid back as a small part of a great debt to our God, which we can never repay?  Is that a sacrifice which brings it own blest reward in healthful activity, the consciousness of doing good, peace of mind, and brings hope of a glorious destiny hereafter?… It is emphatically no sacrifice… it is a privilege.

At First Covenant we believe each of us - no matter what age, no matter what stage – has been blessed in order to bless others.

We need to be needed
Jesus put it this way, “If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.(Luke 6:38, NIV)  Want confirmation?  Just look inside your own heart. You know it's true. Few things are more satisfying than enriching the life of another.
We will never rise higher than when we serve. Serving
Serving is God’s way to the top.  Using himself as our model, Jesus assured us that serving others is the path to our greatest stature. (See Mark. 9:35; 10:43-45)

We are needed– big time.
There is literally a world of need out there. YOU are needed.  There are no inessential believers  (1 Cor. 12:21-23)
.

Serving others is God’s Purpose for you

At First Covenant Church, we hold as a matter of principle that everyone in our congregation should have a place where he or she is serving.  Want to talk with someone about what you can do at First Covenant?  Talk to a leader or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
