Like a boomerang, the blessings we give to others have a way of returning to us. Dr. David Livingstone who, medical degree in hand, left the comforts of home to spend thirty years in primitive Africa, would later reflect.
At First Covenant we believe each of us - no matter what age, no matter what stage – has been blessed in order to bless others. We need to be neededJesus put it this way, “If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.” (Luke 6:38, NIV) Want confirmation? Just look inside your own heart. You know it's true. Few things are more satisfying than enriching the life of another. |
We will never rise higher than when we serve.  Serving is God’s way to the top. Using himself as our model, Jesus assured us that serving others is the path to our greatest stature. (See Mark. 9:35; 10:43-45) We are needed– big time. There is literally a world of need out there. YOU are needed. There are no inessential believers (1 Cor. 12:21-23) . Serving others is God’s Purpose for you At First Covenant Church, we hold as a matter of principle that everyone in our congregation should have a place where he or she is serving.
